4. Wearing (1)

1) Why are you wearing my sweater?
   你為什么穿著我的毛衣？
   * wear 可以連接任何衣著，“wear sweater, clothes, hat, gloves, shoes” etc。

2) I have torn the only good shirt I own.
   我撕破了我自己唯一的一件好襯衫。
   * tear 是撕破、裂開的意思。名詞也作“綻”之意。
   e.g. The country is torn by warlords.
        這個國家被軍閥們所割據。

3) Well, put something else on.
   嗯，換一件吧。
   * put on 是和 wear 用法相同的詞。
     something else 并不特指某物，但如果是鞋子，就是指去換一只的意思。
     “換穿”也常使用 change。

4) You had better wash those dirty clothes.
   你該去把那些臟衣服洗一洗。

5) The clothes dryer gets very hot.
   衣物干燥機變得非常熱了。

6) The color from my red socks ran because I used hot water in the wash.
   由于用熱水洗，所以紅襪子的顏色滲出來了。
   * run 是跑的意思，但也有滲出、潤染的意思。
     wash 是洗滌，說“because I washed them in hot water.”也一樣。

7) Will you please pick up your clothes from the floor?
   能請你把地板上的衣服撿起來嗎？

8) She never mends her clothes; they all have holes in them.
   她從來都不補綴衣服。因此，衣服上到處都是破洞。
   * 鉤破時可以把“snag, split”等作動詞或名詞用。

9) Why does only one sock get lost at a time?
   為什么襪子只丟了一只呢？
